Benji Smithinsonstone got up every morning at 5:45am. He'd brush his teeth, shower, get dressed, have toast and coffee, brush his teeth again (this time with a hand towel as a sort of bib so he wouldn't get toothpaste on his tie) and then leave for work. Every single day he would drive the same streets, stop at the same traffic lights, see the same faces at the bus stops along the way.
Last Thursday was a different story, though. As he stopped at the light at Beach and Garfield, he saw a medium-sized old lady (she'd obviously taken calcium supplements or ate a lot of cheese in her day) crossing in the crosswalk. Was she new in town? Old people usually stuck to routines, so he knew he would have seen her at some point in the last 15 years.
He decided to try something new, he went down to the McDonald's, ordered an Egg McMuffin and went out the drive thru and down Garfield to follow the lady to a bus stop. He pulled into a nearby parking lot and walked over to the bench with his second breakfast.
"Hi, I'm Benji. Are you new in town?" he asked as the bus pulled up.
"No, I've lived here quite some time," replied the old woman, "I'm on my way to a doctor's appointment. Here's my number."
She just gave him her phone number and got on the bus! In all of his days, Benji had never come across a woman so forward. She must be a woman of ill-repute... a 'floozy' if you will... he thought as he walked back to his car.
That morning, Benji Smithinsonstone was 15 minutes late for work and he was fired. This sent him into a dark depression and a three day drinking binge. He was still drunk yesterday morning when he decided to drive down to his work and give old Mr. Phillipshead a piece of his mind.
But tragedy struck when he got to the intersection of Beach and Garfield. That same medium-sized old floozy that cost Benji his career was crossing the street, probably off to get the results of her blood test or something.
