mail

Wendy Decker would walk down to her mailbox every day at 11:30. She lived in one of those subdivisions where all of the mailboxes were bunched together on a single corner. She didn't like this, it reminded her of the mailboxes during time she spent living in an apartment with Roy. She sure was glad to have that deadbeat out of her life! Anyway, she'd walk down at 11:30 and Mrs. Batchelor would always holler out from behind her petunias, "It hasn't come yet!" What a spoilsport that Mrs. Batchelor was. Didn't she know anything about anything? Wendy felt that in order to know the thrill of victory, she needed to know the suckiness of losing. It was that same feeling that drove her to want to sense the disappointment of not getting anything in the mail before she could walk down at 3:15 and be happy about the stack of credit card bills she would receive each day.
